Pregnancy and breastfeeding cause many changes in your body. A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures that can reverse these changes and bring your body close to its pre-pregnancy state. The two areas most affected by pregnancy are the abdomen and breasts.
THE ABDOMEN
During pregnancy, the muscles and skin of the abdomen stretch to accommodate a growing baby. The muscles of the abdomen separate and weaken causing a bulge. The skin is unable to return to its original size and result in an area of loose or even hanging skin. This can be corrected with a tummy tuck , or abdominoplasty.
An abdominoplasty includes all or some of the following: liposuction to remove excess fat in the hips or upper abdomen, tightening of the separated and loose rectus muscles of the abdomen and removal of all the excess skin below the belly button. Even though the scar usually fades nicely. it is always kept low where it can be hidden in the panty or bikini line. If there is only a small amount of excess skin, a mini-abdominoplasty can be performed, resulting in a much smaller scar. Of course, liposuction of other areas can also be performed as needed.
THE BREASTS
Pregnancy and breastfeeding can change both the size and shape of the breasts. The breasts always enlarge during pregnancy. After pregnancy, the breasts usually decrease in size and appear deflated. This can be corrected with a breast augmentation. The breasts may also be sagging, or ptotic and a mastopexy (breast lift) might also be needed.
FACIAL REJUVENATION
Pregnancy can create signs of aging in the face. In addition to any mommy makeover procedure, wrinkles, furrows and crow’s feet can all be improved using Botox, fillers and fat injections. Ask Dr. Jacobs about non-surgical facial rejuvenation during your consultation.
